The dental radius cutter features a semicircular rounded tip and is available with cutting-edge diameters from 0.3 mm to 2.5 mm. The 2.5 mm tool is primarily used for efficient roughing, while the smaller diameter tools of 0.3 or 0.6 mm are used for fine finishing or carving out fissures. The particularly long free grinding of these tools also facilitates easy access to undercuts.
Depending on the application and the type of dental material, the radius cutters can have one to four cutting edges. For PMMA and wax, for instance, there are extremely sharp single-edge cutters available with a very low tendency to clog. Conversely, the 2.5 mm cutters designed for abrasive zirconia have three cutting edges, and the CoCr cutters have four, reducing wear on each cutting edge and ensuring greater process reliability.
To process dental materials such as ceramics and composites, Vsmile provides torus and radius grinding tools with diamond grit in different grain sizes. The smaller torus grinding tools with their fine grain are mainly used for creating drillings and abutments, while the 2.5 mm grinding tools with a coarser grain are utilized for roughing. The fine-grained radius grinding tools are reserved for the finishing process.
All milling tools are characterized by their excellent abrasion and break resistance, and they possess extremely long endurance. The diamond grit is particularly well-bonded to the shank, which helps avoid micro-cracks and reduces sensitivity to thermal impact.
